Mark Mueller, writing for NJ Advance Media, has just written a story with interviews from several cops who claim to have broken up rooftop parties of Muslims celebrating in New Jersey. While there may not have been thousands, one cop interviewed cited several dozen people celebrating across two locations in his town, with other cops citing several more rooftop parties in other locations.
The NJ Advance Media inquiry, encompassing more than two dozen interviews conducted since Nov. 25, found Trump's broad assertion that thousands of people cheered to be baseless. At the same time, the inquiry provides the first credible indication of at least two modest celebrations, as described by on-the-record sources who say they witnessed the behavior.
So what, you say? As the story says, even if there were a couple of celebrations, that still makes Trump’s claims completely false, no?
Maybe so. But apparently the paper filed a FOIA request for the 911 calls, which are set to be released within the next two weeks. If and when that happens, expect them to get wall-to-wall media coverage, and at the end of the day the only thing most people are going to remember is those calls about the Muslims celebrating that back up Trump’s claims. If these calls are actually found and released, which granted is a big if, then expect Trump’s poll numbers to skyrocket yet again, this time possibly breaking the 50% mark.
