Real estate tycoon, leading Republican 2016 presidential candidate, or fear mongering demagogue, all deserve comment. But I think I noticed something. He really likes when his name is said.
I am concerned at the behavior he is encouraging in his followers and I want to oppose it.
There are many other incidents where his supporters react violently to any criticism of him.
Based on his behavior and that of his supporters, there will be many occasions to call out the hate and bigotry he is spreading in 2016. And they will come in the form of acts that disparage groups or individuals whom his supporters are attacking.
In those cases, name those who are disparaged first and report the attack on them.
When he is criticized for his hateful actions, detail his act and credit the one calling him out.
I doubt that I can be perfectly consistent with my goal. There will be times that require using his name to clearly label the hurtful and dangerous influence he is wielding.
But I'll be damned if I feed his ego or promote his brand when reporting on him.
While I don’t mind his becoming the Republican nominee, because he would lose badly and discredit the hate currently rampant in the Republican party, I also want his brand of politics be repeatedly and publicly called out for it’s violence every time a defense is uttered.
How else can we counter a dangerous demagogue and his violent supporters?
