Fast, dirty, and to the point since I hadn’t seen this previously — all apologies if this has already been posted but women for Sanders always make my radar, especially since I am one myself. As a strong feminist, I like to let people know that women resonate with Sanders’ many messages, particularly surrounding social and gender-based equality.

There are eight super delegates in Nevada. One of them is Erin Bilbray. Bilbray is a DNC committee member, ran for 3rd District State Rep in a 50% red and 50% blue district (which swings quite a bit — she lost to an incumbent Republican), is the daughter of a leading former Nevadan politician, Jim Bilbray, who represented the district for nearly a decade, and is the founder of the political group Emerge Nevada which helps women, specifically, to prepare for future political office.
Bilbray also helped found The Children’s Free Clinic of Southern Nevada, the first free clinic for this area.
Here is a video clip, h/t to clonal antibody, of today’s meeting with Bilbray and Sanders, discussing Women’s issues just today, the product of their meeting and her endorsement.
Southern Nevada, if you’re trying to envision it, is the area just South of Las Vegas and just North of the Arizona border, which includes Clark County, Henderson, Laughlin, and Boulder City — the Latino demographic of these areas is around 15-20% total. In 2014, the area had 66,000 registered Independents and many swing voters. The area has a closed caucus BUT Nevadans in the area can register to vote Democratic on election day, and anyone who will be 18 by Nov. 18, 2016 may vote in the caucus!
On her enthusiastic endorsement of Sanders, Bilbray states:
"I have spent my entire career working to engage women in the political process," Bilbray said. "But at this point the biggest threat to American democracy is the dark money from super PACs that are controlling our elections. Government cannot focus on all of the important issues that affect America’s working families when a handful of super wealthy donors, in both parties, have the ability to predetermine who will win the election. Senator Bernie Sanders has denounced all super PACs and will continue to fight for the future of the middle class. As a mother of two young daughters, their future is my priority, which is why I am endorsing Bernie Sanders as the Democratic nominee for president of the United States."
“Erin Bilbray is a leader in Nevada. She has been an advocate of middle-class working families her whole life, and believes Senator Sanders is the only candidate that can bring the real change necessary to take back our country from the billionaire class and fight for true campaign finance reform,” said Sanders’ Nevada state director, Joan Kato. “We are excited to have her support.”

On Monday, Bilbray will welcome Sen. Sanders and women leaders to her home for the Women's Leaders Lunch. The lunch will include conversations on issues important to women such as equal pay, income inequality, universal health care and college affordability.
Sanders faces an uphill battle in Nevada but not one that is insurmountable. He is closing in on Iowa and has held New Hampshire well. Coming in close in Nevada, which is the earliest voting state with a high Latino population, will help. Your help with GOTV is instrumental. Endorsements are great but never enough. Please consider phone banking to help. Nevada is currently on the list of states you can phone. If you are scared of the phone — and really, there’s no reason to be! I cold-called around 3,500 folks in 2008 for Obama and enjoyed it after getting my feet wet — then please help others do the same with your people-powered campaign contribution.
You rock! And if you are on FB and are a strong woman, take a stand and “like” the “Women for Bernie Sanders” page to show your support and to break down the media’s false narratives. The media has their own spin, but social media can always counter that — Get your voice out there and into the conversation that, for this primary and for the future of this country, Sanders is the BEST CANDIDATE FOR WOMEN and is OUR FIRST CHOICE AS WOMEN!
All women.
Update: If you are a woman for Sanders, just say so in the comments! Just a quick comment is fine! FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO BE HEARD AS A “WOMAN FOR SANDERS” because the MSM has their fingers in their ears and is putting words in YOUR mouth — NOT OKAY!!! FIGHT BACK WITH YOUR OWN VOICE!!!
