I was getting my Woody Guthrie on, on Pandora today, and I heard a couple of songs by Phil Ochs. I wasn’t familiar with Phil Ochs so I read the blurb that Pandora has on him. It interested me so I went to YouTube and listened to a number of songs of his. For those who are not familiar with Ochs, he was a folk singer/song writer in the 60s. He had some pretty cool shit. He was also a "take no prisoners" type who called them like he saw it.
Well, this song struck a chord with me. It isn’t for those Hillary supporters that realize she is a neocon & neoliberal puppet of Wall St. and the MIC. For those that support her and acknowledge this fact, I don't have much problem other than the fact that I don't agree with them, their point of view, or where they want to see the country go.
But for those Hillary supporters who try to make her out as a true blue progressive when everything points to the opposite, I do have a problem. Those who profess to be a progressive and turn a blind eye to the facts that clearly show Hillary is a tool of the oligarchs, you are frauds or you are naïve.
In the event Hillary wins both the nomination and the general, neither of which is a certainty, it will be interesting, if not sad, to what the to groups of Hillary supporters around here. The first will try to justify what she does as she sells out the progressives of this country and the little people who don’t have shitloads of money to donate to her. They will tell us how good these deals are for us, or how they are the best that we could hope for.
Then there will be the ones who scream their heads off how they were screwed, and deceived. They will tell us that they could have never seen such a thing happening. This will be the group that I will hold my venom for the most. The reason is that they knew or should have known and they voted that way anyway. Why would they do that?
For many it will have been because they were scared, afraid that the alternative might lose. Even though they believed in what the other candidate was saying, they didn’t have they desire to stand up and fight for what they believe. If they actually believe it, and so it is this group that I really dedicate this song.
The issues may have changed some, but the mentality hasn’t
