The
Wall Street Journal reports the news that Obamacare enrollments have nearly hit the 10 million mark.
There were 7.5 million people who have signed up through the federal exchange, Sylvia Mathews Burwell, secretary of Health and Human Services, said at a Senate hearing. Another 2.4 million people have come in through state-run exchanges, she said.
The sign-ups indicate the second enrollment under the ACA, which runs through Feb. 15, is on track to meet the Obama administration’s goal of having 9.1 million to 9.9 million people with coverage through the insurance exchanges by the end of 2015. Some people who have coverage now aren’t expected to keep it through the end of the year, and others are expected to sign up later.
If you regularly check
ACASignups, you already knew that, and in fact that enrollments have
topped 10 million, at 10,075,140.
The CBO has estimated that enrollments will hit 13 million this year. That is an aggressive goal, higher than the administration estimated, but it's not unrealistic in light of the rush of last minute sign-ups that we saw last year.
