Today, Israel goes to the polls for its general election. Polls close at 10 PM local time (4 PM ET) and the results are expected soon afterwards. Note that it may take a few days, or perhaps longer, before a new coalition is formed and we know who will serve as prime minister. Here is the place to make predictions and discuss the results as well as possible coalitions.
1:39 PM PT (David Nir): Polls are closed. There are three different exit polls: Two show Likud and the Zionist Union tied; one shows Likud ahead by one seat. But the party that finishes with the most seats isn't necessarily the winner. What matters is the ability to form a coalition. To that end, Haaretz offers a cool coalition-building tool.
2:03 PM PT (Taniel): Benjamin Netanyahu has declared victory, but the task of building coalitions looks like it will be as arduous as expected. President Reuven Rivlin has called for a national unity government.
