Can anyone point to studies -- and perhaps write a diary -- regarding how much has changed for the average person's healthcare costs? Has premium cost plus deductible cost plus unreimbursed cost (plus whatever other costs) gone up or down or remained the same for the average person since the ACA began? The studies cited in Daily Kos posts show government healthcare spending, not spending by individuals. While it's outstanding that government healthcare spending has slowed and reversed, people react more viscerally to costs they're paying directly from their personal income.
I found this US Govt HHS study of "Personal Health Care Expenditures Per Capita" and "Out-of-Pocket Personal Health Care Expenditures Per Capita" for the period 2000-12. Since 2008 these per capita costs are slightly rising, and they're kinda flat if inflation is accounted for. Large portions of Obamacare began after 2012, so more recent data would start to answer my initial question of, Is the average person paying more for healthcare when all the personal, non-government costs are totaled?
