Support Sanders 2016
As 2016 inches closer and closer so does the same candidates that have been running for President since the time of Reagan.
I am proposing someone new to the mix. I give you Bernie Sanders. Many of you know him as the Independent Senator from Vermont or the old guy with the crazy white hair that so eloquently bashes the Koch Brothers or Republicans when he gets on any channel or radio show that will have him
The reason why I am supporting him is not for the pieces of legislation even though he has done our nation's veterans a service by passing legislation he co-wrote with John McCain to reform the Department of Veterans Affairs, increasing the compensation to disabled veterans, and lowering the cost of medication for HIV patients.
Along with the bills he has passed he is one of the few people that can be able to take up the Progressive banner and sell it to the American people. Besides Senator Warren but she has stated over and over again 2016 is out of the question. Senator Sanders stands for everything that I am for.
As a Democrat I want someone that isn't willing to sell out the very people that don't have a voice in Washington. I don't think that Hillary really cares about Democratic values as Liberals do.
The time that I realized Sanders would be the one I support for the upcoming 2016 election is when Sanders is when his 12-point economic plan. I don't see anyone else that is thinking about being in the race or have already said they are running that has. As other Progressives why wouldn't you support Sanders for President? Sanders has spoken every issue that we stand for?
Sure I can hear it now? Sanders is too liberal. Sanders isn't electable. Sanders is too old. Sanders is a Socialist.
If the base can get behind him than not only can he be a contender for the nomination, but I see him beating any of the Republican nominees in the general election. Sure Fox News will have a field day and they can actually throw the socialist banner at someone who has actually isn't afraid of labeling himself a Social-Democrat. The ones that I foresee are winning over Independents. If Sanders' team can break each issue down and get past the media noise that will come in the form as a manufactured apocalypse conservatives will cry out for if he is nominated.
Liberals are the ones that come out for elections and hold up Democratic ideals. I think we deserve a candidate that we can trust and won't screw us over once they get into office.
