I was appalled last night to see a seemingly normal Republican operative say, on Bill Maher, we should bomb Iran now. How is it possible that the GOP wants to go back to war?
She alluded to the way things were going pretty well before we substantively withdrew from Iraq. What I'd like to have said (is this worth a different life as a pundit? Probably not, but still...)
Our presence in Iraq was like a car going 90 mph. You need to perpetually keep filling the car with gas. The gas is about a trillion dollars every decade or so, and an endless supply of soldiers who will come back PTSD'd or dead. But the lesson of Iraq, and Vietnam and colonialism in general is: a continued occupation is untenable: bankrupting us and failing to change "the natives."
GOP are a carload of imbeciles.
