There's a video commercial asking drone pilots not to fly. It's been aired on TV in Las Vegas, and is to run this week in Sacramento on CNN and FoxNews.

This may be a first: a television ad campaign in a U.S. state capitol appealing to someone to stop murdering human beings who have, in most cases, already been born....
... The ad’s appeal for pilots to “Refuse to Fly,” they say, “is aimed at drone pilots, sensor operators, support personnel and their families as well as the general public.”
People, this shows what war really does to people. I doubt we'd be as much of a warmongering nation if people saw what our bombs and bullets really buy around the world.

Please note: Actually broadcast on TV.
I don't know if the people taking these ads at the stations are in line with the purpose; or just want the revenue. I do know a few years ago I called up a couple of local New York TV Stations to see what their ad rates were. If I had a very few hundred dollars I could get a 30-second spot for a week at 11pm-ish. They have different packages and for a couple of thousand dollars, you could get earlier spots, and more of them. Don't remember the specifics, but did remember "hey, this is doable."
There's still the editorial control of the station owners though, so maybe money isn't enough.
One of the ways I feel we could use the internet better (truthfully, I think it's a very high priority) is to crowd-source ad spots, get them created and aired.
It's all well and good we talk to each other, but the thing with a TV ad is that you reach people who never in a million years will find themselves at a political blogspot, nor a liberal one.
What kind of ads?
For instance, having just read about more Republican insanity and betrayal, what I'd want to make right at this moment of writing, would be an ad about Presidential Candidate Nixon (1968) dealing with the North Vietnamese.
LBJ had the tape, and we have the tape of LBJ talking about the tape. Johnson was just thisclose to closing a Peace Deal, but Nixon went to the NV and said "Wait until after the election, I'll give you a better deal." And they did.
Nixon won the election, but if LBJ had sealed the deal, Humphrey might have. Nixon was promising the voters he'd make peace; HHH couldn't talk about the plan for the sake of diplomatic negotiations.
Nixon didn't want peace and offered no better deal and as a result the casualties after he came into office, ours and the Vietnamese, about matched the casualties from before. When LBJ's peace deal could have been done.
I digress. Then a bit about Candidate Reagan and the certain fact that he had his people, including GHW Bush, cut a deal with the Iranians to hold the hostages until after our election. Add in Iran-Contra.
Then the 47 Iranian letter writers who evidently don't like the way we do things in the US of A.
And then finish with
"This is a Party that will stab Americans in the back if there's something it for them."
But that's my fantasy, and I'd wager it's not the best one someone could make.
The purpose of this diary though is to hear what people would like to see, would be useful, if we could get the ads made and broadcast.
