Ok. Today’s post is gonna be short and sweet. Peter Daou penned a kick-ass reminder for Hillary’s supporters yesterday and I want everyone to read it, bookmark it – hell write the main points down on post-its and tape them to your laptop. For Hillary Clinton Supporters – the Three Cornerstones of Her Candidacy…
Hillary Clinton is far and away the most qualified, experienced and prepared candidate among the announced and unannounced candidates for president in 2016, Democrat or Republican.
On a broad array of issues that really matter, from climate change to the economy to human rights to campaign finance to health care, Hillary Clinton’s policies will be better for America than those of her Republican rivals.
America deserves – history deserves – a woman president after nearly a quarter millennium of men holding that office. Specifically, a woman president who has consistently placed the rights of women and girls atop the global agenda.
Seriously – memorize these three points for day-to-day conversations, emails, blog posts, Facebook posts and Tweets. I’ll explain why after you make the jump. But first…
Sorry - couldn't resist that picture of her in New Hampshire a few years ago. Now where was I? Oh yeah...
So you might have noticed that the press and media are trying to distract us with shiny objects. They try to knock Hillary off balance and off-topic with a different faux scandal every other day. Sadly, that’s what journalism has become. Today's reporters are nothing like Cronkite - not even close. It’s not about a candidate’s record of service or the things they hope to contribute to our society if we choose them in the next election. It’s all about the gotcha!
If you don’t believe me – Google Chipotle and Hillary. The press and mass media went berserk over the video of her ordering a chicken salad for crying out loud (did she carry the tray out herself?). Nothing of substance – it’s all about how likable she is. (Can she get voters to warm up to her or not?)
But if we, as her supporters stay focused and stick to the basics, we’ll help steer the conversation back to what matters.
She’s the most qualified candidate to come along in a long time.
She’s got the best ideas for moving our nation forward on the issues that matter.
And after 44 male presidents – it’s time – finally – that we elected a woman. THIS WOMAN.
Don’t let people sidetrack you into debating the past. This isn’t 2007 – this is 2015 and we have different resources and different challenges facing our country. We also have a LOT more swift-boaters out there and more money aimed at taking her down.
We need clear heads – we need focus – and we need to stick to the facts. Remember that.
