Good morning! Welcome to the DKos Sangha weekly open thread.
This is an open thread for members of the DKos Sangha and others who are interested in discussions concerning how we integrate our progressive political activism into our spiritual practice. If you have observations about the political discourse of the week, or about practice, or about anything else related to walking a spiritual path through the political world, if you wish to share, or if you seek support, or if you simply want to say hello, please do; this space is for you.
If you would like to write a diary for the DKos Sangha, please let me know.
If you care nothing for spiritual practice and only wish to denigrate and disparage, please do so elsewhere, and respect that this is a community diary for the DKos Sangha.

We are here on this earth, in this form, this body, for a brief time. It is a precious gift.
When we experience this present moment fully, we can appreciate just how amazing a gift this is, being here in this place, experiencing all of this through the lens of this body/mind, being part and parcel of the unfolding of the cosmos, being part and parcel of this earth, this body/mind being every bit as wondrous as the thunderstorms, the oceans, the atmosphere, the rain forests.
Spiritual teachers often talk about "don't-know mind", but it occurs to me that we can tweak that teaching a little and consider a "sense of wonder". Sunsets, puppy dogs, friends, we go through each day and experience a world that is full of wonder. And within that sense of wonder is an appreciation for the gift, and thankfulness.
For each of us, the path is strewn with questions to which we don't have answers, puzzles not solved, koans offered up by grace to help us move a little deeper. These too are part of the wonder of our experience, the inconceivable way in which the universe is manifesting through this one unique life-form.
Wherever you are in this moment, reading these words, pause for a moment and, without a story, without judgment, without narration or commentary of any kind, bring your attention to this body/mind through which this moment is being experienced; bring your attention to the gift of being this body/mind, this experience, here in this place, in this moment.
Consider for a moment that you are a manifestation of the universe; consider that the entire history of the universe has led up to this very moment in time, and that your experience of this moment is what all of it has led to. The entire unfolding of the universe has made manifest this body/mind that is aware of itself as a manifestation of that very same universe experiencing itself in this very moment, the now that is the result of everything that came before.
Wherever you are in this moment, breathe into this experience of being, breathe into this experience of now; be this experience of now.
It is a very precious gift, this life, this brief time on this wondrous planet, this ...
And how it unfolds from here, that too is a part of the wonder.

You are welcome to join us each week in our Monday night group meditation here at DKos Sangha. This online group meditation is hosted by Ooooh, and the diary is posted at 7:00 Eastern. So that we are able to be together for as many here at Daily Kos as wish to participate, the meditation period runs from 7:30 to 11:00 Eastern. This group sitting is open to beginners and advanced, and is not restricted to any particular traditions or practices. It is not expected that you sit for the entire period; sit for as long as you like, when you like. The idea is that we are here together; supporting each other, holding space for each other.

Enjoy your day!
