Since Governor Abbott is so concerned about US military personnel conducting exercises in Texas I have a solution.
There are approximately 195,000 active duty military personnel stationed in Texas. The Army has about 61,000, Navy & Marine Corps 6,909, Air Force 40,981, Coast Guard 1,409 for an approximate total of Active Duty Military 108,835. There are Reserve and National Guard troops totalling 84,721. Total troops of nearly 195,000. There are 8 Air Force bases, 5 Army bases and 2 Naval/Marine Corps stations.
According to thetexaseconomy.org military installations in Texas
"Provide an economic impact of more than $148 billion to the Texas economy
Account for 6 percent of the state's economic activity
Employ more than 255,000 military and defense-related civilian personnel."
My suggestion is we solve the problem for the paranoid morons holding elective office in my state, and their need to observe the troops of the United States of America, by President Obama ordering all 109,000 of them moved to bases and stations outside of Texas. This order would remain until Governor Abbott publicly requested their return and promised to honor the service of our troops and admits that we are willing to accept the $148 billion of money generated by federal government.
I bet there will be a few other states willing to take on this federal burden.
