Jimmy Dore is a brilliant comedian with an incredible show, The Jimmy Dore Show. I love the insight that Jimmy brings to his program. Somehow, he takes lots of heavy issues and makes them funny. I don't know how particularly funny this graphic is, but it's true.
This image feels like a a bit of a throwback because I made this one back in December as a filler which I needed this weekend. I wanted to continue the series of graphics where I match candidates with their donors, but with the amount of research and time that takes up, I'm running this and go with the theme around McKinney. (At this point I would have been a facilitator of a graphic design workshop, then spent the day at Cottage Street Cultural Chaos, which runs into Art walk. So it will be a busy Saturday.)
And somehow I posted this morning's Word Salad, too.
As some of you may know I lived in Texas. Cleburne, like many cities, has developers. Being white, I did notice the racism against the local Hispanics, however, with a very low population of African Americans, and how the town was outraged at the KKK rally that happened, I was ignorant of the underlying racism.
That was until we moved.
In 1993 we sold our house to a nice African American family. We lived on Cindy Lane and at the end of the street lived Cindy, the daughter of the developer and the namesake of Cindy Lane. When she saw that an African American family had come to see our house, she was appalled. I forget what she said, but it was offensive, and I remember that offense.
Last week when McKinney happened, I was not surprised.
I for one am sick of the racists using terms like "race-baiter," "race-hustler," "thug," "ghetto rat," "Al Sharpton," or "Jesse Jackson." We all know it's them coming out to say the "n-word." Just come out and say it. We all know you're a bigot, what are you trying to hide?
I wish they would listen to their own advice, take some personal responsibility! I wish they would be responsible for their own racism and stop blaming others.
