I will tell you this: the malformed opinions and the arrogant, willful ignorance being expressed on all forms of social media regarding the Charleston white supremacist terrorism are, in my opinion, separating the wheat from the chaff. This may not be a turning point, but it should be. How can we continue as a viable society if we can't even come to agreement as to what happens right in front of our eyes? The shooter is telling us "I wanted to start a race war" yet the idiots at FOX news and others are telling their zombies that this was "Christian persecution" and had nothing to do with race because in the conservative world, nothing has anything to do with race, unless you’re a liberal.
As we've all read by now, an NRA board member, Charles Cotton is blaming Rev. and State Senator Clementa Pinckney, who died in the attack, because...
“ [ ]he voted against concealed-carry. Eight of his church members who might be alive if he had expressly allowed members to carry handguns in church are dead. Innocent people died because of his position on a political issue.”
I’m sure Rev. Pinckney’s family is happy to hear that.
The POTUS, makes an impassioned expression of grief (AGAIN!) and mentions that we, as a country must decide to do SOMETHING to curtail gun violence and the response is the typical, wrong-headed “Guns don’t kill people. People kill people,” or “The ‘Muslim in the White House’ Obama is using this terrible tragedy as an excuse to take our guns.”
And as a side note, don’t forget Larry Pratt, who stated that the Second Amendment was meant to be used against people like President Obama.
“People like Obama”?
Obama is being blamed for creating more racial divide in the country. It’s his policies, the right claims, which have led to this tragic incident. It’s a lie. Obama has not and is not coming for your guns. And everyone knows it. The outpouring of stupidity after Sandy Hook taught us nothing I suppose.
Anyway, I could go on and on but why? Nine people are dead. That’s the bottom line, but it is not the only issue. The why and how matter. My intense heartbreak is that America doesn’t care.
