Democrats have a good chance of claiming the U.S. Senate seat held by Republican Marco Rubio next year, although no one in the early field is very well known to Florida voters, a Quinnipiac University poll released Monday shows.
U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Jupiter, tops Republican Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera by 40 percent to 28 percent; and also leads U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Ponte Vedra Beach, by 39 percent to 31 percent.
Another Democrat, U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, also is ahead of the the two most prominent Republican contenders, leading Lopez-Cantera, 37-31 percent and DeSantis, 38-32 percent.
But it may be too soon to judge — much, said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac Poll.
“The U.S. Senate candidates in Florida might want to put their pictures on milk cartons to increase their visibility. U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson is the best-known, but 62 percent of voters don’t know him well-enough to have an opinion about him,” Brown said.
“The ‘don’t know’ numbers for the others are even worse,” he added. - Palm Beach Post, 6/22/15

The Florida portion of the June 4-15 telephone poll surveyed 1,147 voters and has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 2.9 percentage points. It remains to be seen if Grayson will actually jump into the race but Murphy is already off to a great start. If you want to donate and get involved with Murphy's campaign, you can do so here:
