I am trying to compile a list of all the amazingly offensive and idiotic things the right has said since the Supreme Court's ruling. Please add any below and I'll repost tomorrow with the full list.
To get us started:
Ted Cruz
"The parties to a case cannot ignore a direct judicial order, but it does not mean that those who are not parties to a case are bound by a judicial order."
Yeah, that's right. The Supreme Court is like Judge Judy. Rulings only bear on the parties involved in the case. Boy, they're going to have to decide a lot of cases if they want their rulings applied across the country.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton:
Judges and justices of the peace have no mandatory duty to conduct any wedding ceremony,
So abiding by a Supreme Court decision is now optional for judges?
GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee:
“We’ve always been a nation of law,” he said. “We’re now a nation of men.”
Alabama chief justice Roy Moore:
In a speech to the Kimberly Church of God congregation, Moore compared the supreme court's decision to the time when slavery was lawful. “Welcome to the new world. It's just changed for you Christians. You are going to be persecuted according to the US supreme court dissents,” he said.
American Family Association's Tim Wildmon:
As reported by Right Wing Watch, American Family Association Tim Wildmon called the Supreme Court decision on Marriage Equality a spiritual 9/11.
