I am still laughing after reading about this earlier. Wisconsin State Representative Mandela Barnes posted the story on his facebook page last night.
Three things you need to know in advance:
1. The Wisconsin Governor held a rally yesterday to reveal that God commanded him to run for president.
2. Mandela Barnes is a Democrat.
3. Mandela Barnes is black.
1:09 PM PT: The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Dan Bice has followed up on the story and has some interesting quotes from everyone involved.
Asked if he thought he was singled out because he is black, Barnes said, "Oh, yeah. It's like she zeroed in on me."
Walker officials declined to comment on Barnes' claims.
But a GOP operative involved in major campaign events called Barnes' account implausible, saying the people on the stage with Walker likely were selected and vetted weeks in advance. An event volunteer also would probably not have the authority to add three people to the stage at the last second, he said.
Baldauff, the Dem Party spokeswoman, vouched for Barnes' version of events, saying it's clear that Walker's team has had problems with vetting in the past. She cited the time Walker introduced a registered sex offender at his state of the state address last year.
6:18 PM PT: The "scandal" (and the coverup) continues, and the Capital Times asks the best rhetorical question on the internet today, "Did Scott Walker's staff pack stage-side seats with minorities during his kickoff speech?"
Rep. Barnes keeps the jokes coming, telling a local TV station:
“I took it as an honor that I was randomly selected. You know, how people get randomly selected in an airport, sort of like that,” said Barnes.
