So I'm going to try to do the same table test I did there.
I've done HTML since forever, so I don't have a problem hand coding tables. I use DW out of habit, I've used it since before Adobe bought it. I don't use WYSIWYG view, totally code.
I also have been using Word forever, since DOS days. Since I know a lot of people will use that and then paste into here, rather than do all the editing right here, I did a similar table there as well.
Below are what happens when I bring them over.
This cell is narrow
|
This spans 2 columns. Background on this row is pale green, text is black and bold.
|
This text is orange (style/p)
|
This text is blue (style/span) |
This text is red. (font/color) |
Short text here |
There should be a little air around the sides of the text |
-
- Numbered list item 1
- The list should be indented
- List item 3
|
Coded in DW, no WYSIWYG. This is a little better than DK5, but not great. I've lost all the text color, though the background color for the row comes through. The colspan still doesn't work. My list comes in, though it's numbered wrong (and the code is right). It takes up way more space than it should. BUT I can see and edit my original HTML so I have a way to see if I can make it more to my liking.

Cut and paste from Word brings NOTHING. No formatting at all. No color, it's not even a table.
If you want to see what it looks like on DK5, it's http://www.dailykosbeta.com/...
So while I'd like a lot more HTML support on DK5, for most users the tables will likely be better and easier. I don't like them, but I'm not the average user.
