So I came across a meme on Facebook, but didn't save it so can't post it here. It said pretty much "Why can't hackers hack into Sallie Mae and wipe out everyone's student loan debt? Wow, that would be awesome. More below the squiggly representation of what my stomach looks like on bill paying/tax paying day.
That meme struck a cord with me. But as I am kinda slow the impact didn't hit me until I couldn't find the meme anymore. I could probably make one of my own but I work 2 jobs and time is not something I have a lot of.
Why? Why don't hackers do something good for a change? Sure, they tap into the IRS, NSA, any old government agency, giant corporations, health insurance carriers, but why can't someone like in movies like "The Net" just jump in there and instead of causing havoc or causing an international incident, simply press "delete" and make all of our headaches disappear, never to return? I know Sandy Bullock's character had her entire life erased, which blows chunks of course so that's not good.
But in the real world if that did happen to a giant leeching student loan company I'm sure some kind of annoying backup would kick in, but why doesn't someone even try. Instead of stealing our info to buy Bentley's under our names and SS numbers why not be a Robin Hood and wipe out the biggest problem facing Gen X and whatever they're calling these whippersnappers these days, Gen Y, Gen Z? Anyone? Beuller?
