You know you're hitting the bigots, and those who support racist actions and policies, where it hurts when black racial identity serves as the basis for a media hit job.
Personally, when I look at Shaun I see a light skin black guy, but a white supremacist woman suspects that he's really white, and pretending to be black. Now she, and a certain right wing news site, are spreading lies and misinformation in a personal attack designed to stifle a voice calling out for justice.
Uh huh.
Okay.
It appears that this white supremacist and her media lap dogs have forgotten (or are just plain ignorant) about the one drop rule. The African American community knows all about this rule, because it's a racial idea that's been around for a long, long time. But, we black folks did not create this rule. Know who did?
White Bigots.
A definition of the One Drop Rule from Wikipedia
The one-drop rule is a sociological and legal principle of racial classification that was historically prominent in the United States asserting that any person with even one ancestor of sub-Saharan-African ancestry ("one drop" of black blood) is considered to be black (Negro in historical terms).
So, let me get this straight. A white woman who has such low self-esteem that she spends a good portion of her time steeped in an ignorant mindset that sets herself above others, thinks she can tell if someone is black or not by looking at their photo, and then she goes about creating suspicion about the parentage of a man who identifies as black/multiracial?

Clearly this woman, and the breathless scandal mongers who support her, are ignorant about black racial identity politics in America. So, let's get into it, shall we?
Black people come in all shades and colors, and ironically, it was whites who legally codified the rules about exactly who fits under the black race umbrella. Basically, white bigots decided that any person living in this country who has a smidgen of black blood, meaning one or more of your great great grandparents had a strong strain of African heritage, you are considered to be legally black.
From Wikipedia
The one-drop rule was made law, chiefly in the U.S. South but also in other states, in the 20th century - decades after the Civil War, emancipation and Reconstruction. It followed restoration of white supremacy in the South and the passage of Jim Crow racial segregation laws. In the 20th century, it was also associated with the rise of eugenics and ideas of racial purity.
Therefore, if we are going to follow the one drop rule, which we are, biracial, multiracial and light skin people of color have every right to claim their black identity. And, that identity is legally supported by law in many states.

White bigots who want to go down this road of accusing people of faking blackness are stepping into a minefield that is filled with potential embarrassment. You see in spite of the laws against race mixing, plenty of people race mixed back in the day. Meaning, lots of Americans have unknown black or white ancestry.
Case in point:
A white supremacist guy who was absolutely confident of his pure white heritage, was busy trying to maintain the purity of the white race. He looks perfectly white to the average person, but looks can be deceiving. Under the one drop rule - he is black!
Hey, but it's not like some white people haven't considered this kind of scenario happening to people who proudly wear white heritage on their sleeve.
From Wikipedia
Although the Virginia legislature increased restrictions on free blacks following the Nat Turner Rebellion of 1831, it refrained from establishing a one-drop rule. When a proposal was made by Travis H. Eppes and debated in 1853, representatives realized that such a rule could adversely affect whites, as they were aware of generations of interracial relationships. During the debate, a person wrote to the Charlottesville newspaper:
[If a one-drop rule were adopted], I doubt not, if many who are reputed to be white, and are in fact so, do not in a very short time find themselves instead of being elevated, reduced by the judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, to the level of a free negro.
According to a
Harvard University study, biracial people are most often viewed as belonging to a non-white racial group. This article also highlights the fact that non-white is associated with lower status.
The team found few differences in how whites and non-whites perceive biracial individuals, with both assigning them with equal frequency to lower-status groups. The researchers are conducting further studies to examine why Americans continue to associate biracials more with their minority parent group.
Americans have clear biases and perceptions about biracial and multiracial people in America, especially people with black ancestry.
This brings into question who gets to decide who is black or not?

What these people think about their black racial identity
I challenge Vicki Pate to prove her pure whiteness by taking a public DNA test and sharing the results with Breitbart. I think she's too cowardly to do this, but if she's going to challenge others about their racial identity, it's only fair that she share her own racial genetic history with the world.
As it stands now, she has absolutely no authority to declare who is or isn't black enough. She is just another misguided soul seeking her 15 minutes of fame, and she's already used up 14 and a half minutes with this fake scandal. Shoo fly!
