I sincerely hope you understand: Donald Trump, aka The Donald, aka sad sack, aka sack of something else, is NOT running for the Office President of the United States . . . he is running for publicity for Donald Trump Enterprises.
Many of the building, resorts, developments which bear his name do so by license, i.e., he has no ownership investment interest in those properties, he allows his name to be used in exchange for a licensing fee paid by the owners/developers. The more name recognition he has, the greater the licensing fee he can hope to charge and get!
There are only two types of more publicity is bad in his situation: 1.) Bad financial reports regarding his activities. After all if he can't be rich, what is he really capable of being and who is he? (He was born rich so it is his only identity.) 2.) making a fool out of himself in certain ways. (such as only polling less than 1% of Republican voters.)
When we think of Trump making his everyday absurd, ridiculous ,racist, misogynistic, stupid, contrary to fact and outright lies, as making a fool of himself. But, to the average (base) Republican Troglodyte . . . oops, I mean supporter . . . these "brilliant perspectives on the truth" are just what they want to hear. (bloody bait for sharks.)
William Buckley was a well spoken Conservative intellectual who was simply wrong about most things. Senator Robert Dole was a Conservative Republican intellect who was wrong about most things but, at least, I could discuss issues with him intelligently without either losing patience or temper, because his (bad) policy was based upon strategy and thought, not religious fervor, bigotry, hate or demagoguery. Trump has all the worst characteristics (one cannot possibly, in good conscience call them "qualities.") of every Conservative since 1909 (TR's last year in office.)
Unlike the 16(22?36?158?) clowns vying for the Republican nomination for the 2016 Presidential election, Donald Trump doesn't want the nomination, just the publicity.
Unlike those others, Trump arrives in a city in a private Jet bearing his name writ large on the tail. Unlike those others, do you really believe that Trump hasn't already figured out how to take a tax deduction for the cost of those trips even if he loses, or more likely withdraws from the process?
If you still have any doubts left about Trump's fictitious candidacy, ask yourself just one question: Do you really believe that Trump wants to take the drop in pay he would suffer were he actually elected to the office?
