I'm getting increasingly worried about the influence Donald Trump is having on the hearts and minds of voters. As many of us are focusing on the Black Lives Matter movement to end the senseless and frequent killings of black men and women by law enforcement, Donald Trump is whipping up anti-immigrant sentiment. And based on personal conversations, I'm hearing that his message is resonating with some black voters. Looking at the history of our behavior as human beings, we can make sense of this. And that worries me quite a lot. Could we get the surprise of our lifetimes come November 2016?
We may need to pat our heads and rub our bellies at the same time to keep momentum going for police reform while preventing a crushing attack on immigrants and those likely to be mistaken for immigrants in the US.
