I don't have a whole lot to say about this, but I thought I would share for those interested. I received an email from my school today stating that they would not be crediting the Illinois MAP grants (think Pell, but for IL state) to student accounts because of the budget standoff between Rauner and the legislature. This is pretty stressful for someone like myself that relies on MAP to go to school, as the federal loan limits are too low to cover everything. Now, I imagine that eventually an agreement will be reached and things will go on as usual with little lasting impact on myself. But I am sure that the victims will be those on other state programs for the poor, the elderly, and the disabled.
Say what you want about Quinn and bad Democrats...This kind of stuff wouldn't be happening with him in office. we have to stop our midterm defeats.
