New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, once the Republicans' golden boy, has no prayer of
breaking three percent in the presidential polls unless he thinks up something really great.
This isn't it.
Recent violence against law enforcement is President Barack Obama's problem, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Tuesday, blasting the president for failing to lead and uphold the rule of law.
"This is the president's problem, because he has not allowed law and order to be the rule of the day in the United States. Lawlessness has been the rule of the day," Christie said in an interview on "Fox and Friends" after the hosts recounted recent killings of police officers in Illinois and Texas, and another shooting in Nevada over the weekend. "And now the president says little or nothing about these police officers that are being hunted."
Roll tape.
President Barack Obama offered words of solace to the families and colleagues of officers who died in the line of duty in an address Friday that occurred against a backdrop of increased tension between law enforcement and the minority communities they serve.
"We cannot erase every darkness or danger from the duty that you've chosen. We can offer you the support you need to be safer," the president told a large gathering at the National Peace Officers' Memorial Service at the U.S. Capitol. "We can make the communities you care about and protect safer, as well. We can make sure that you have the resources you need to do your job. We can do everything we have to do to combat the poverty that plagues too many communities in which you have to serve."
What a shock to find Christie lying like a rug on "Fox and Friends." Running against Obama, however, is not going to gain him any votes with the rabid Republican primary voter. Not when he says things like "frankly, I don't think you should grandstand on this stuff," about Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee, who are rushing to Kentucky to rally supporters of Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who won't issue marriage licenses because God told her to hate gay people. Christie thinks she should get a new job. Clearly, he does not have the stuff for
this Republican presidential primary.
