After todays Kim Davis love fest it got me thinking about recent Republican heroes. They are beloved by right-wingers and lionized by Fox "News". They don't seem to fit what I would define as a hero. I could be wrong but I don't think history will judge them as heroic figures either (although who knows, maybe they will be in some of those revised Texas history books).
These are the ones who quickly popped into my head, please feel free to add to the list.
Lets see, we have "Joe the Plumber" whose first name wasn't Joe and who wasn't a licensed plumber.
We have George Zimmerman who followed, shot and killed a young black male who was armed with a cell phone, Arizona watermelon fruit juice cocktail, and a bag of Skittles.
We have Sarah Palin whose idea of a "gotcha" questions is asking her what newspapers she reads or asking her to name any Supreme Court cases she disagreed with.
We have Cliven Bundy who continues illegally grazing his cattle on federal lands without paying the federal government fees for doing just that and even had an armed militia pointing weapons at law enforcement officials.
There's Ted Nugent, an admitted draft dodger who wouldn't carry a gun for the military ("I did not want to get my ass blown off in Vietnam") who is now a spokesman for the NRA.
There's Phil Robertson, a man who never leaves home without his Bible and is such a good Christian that he believes about Islamic radicals "I'm not giving up on them, but I'm just saying, either convert them or kill them. One or the other." Hmmm. What would Jesus do?
There's Josh Duggar. Need I say more?
There's Bristol Palin, the paid abstinence spokesperson who somehow keeps getting pregnant out of wedlock.
And now there's Kim Davis, a woman so strong in her deeply held religious beliefs that same sex married is against God's laws yet doesn't seem to realize that so is being married four times.
