When in the Course of Human Events, it becomes necessary for a People to transform the political bands which have connected them with their current government, and to assume the equal station to which the Law of Logic entitles them, a decent respect to the opinions of humanity requires that they declare the causes which impel them to Revolution.
We, the American people of 2016, hold these truths to be self-evident:
—That all humans are created equal, that every child is born with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
—That to secure these rights, Governments are controlled by the majority of Individuals living upon the land, and that the Government derives its justice-bringing powers from the consent of the governed.
—That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, to institute deep reforms, and to organize its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety, Happiness, Equality, and Liberty.
Reason will dictate that Governments long established should not be respected simply for the length of their existence, but for the sound quality of their governance. All experience of Revolutions around the World hath shewn that the citizens of an unjust nation must show courage and will to cast down that which has bred such injustice, and to remake what is broken into a new, shining system of Truth, Transparency, and Freedom.
When a long train of abuses and usurpations is wreaked unto the People of a Land— it is the People’s right, nay, their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
Such has been the patient sufferance of the American People; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government.
The history of the Congress and the President of the United States is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Oligarchy over these States.
To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.
The Present Government has allowed its People, including its Children, to suffer in poverty and hunger.
It has exacted punishment and cruelty unto the most abused of its society, throwing 2.2 million individuals into jail and prison, the highest number of any Land per capita on this Earth, and it has subsidized a private prison industry that locks Citizens behind bars, no matter the crime rate, in order to fill profitable quotas.
It has neglected to provide fair, equal, non-racist, non-sexist education for all its Citizens, unjustly funding, by its own admission, the schools serving the Children of this Nation, and failing to oversee by Court the individual institutions now making a return to racial segregation their principle objective.
It has permitted its Peace-Keeping Force to stay corrupt and murderous, to kill unarmed civilians with no consequence, to become militarized with weapons and vehicles fit for a World War, to seize Citizen possessions with neither warrant nor penalty, to occupy the Land’s Cities as an aggressive military force designed to attack and exploit, not protect, the Citizens, and it has legally freed this Force from being bound to protect its People.
It has continued to bend malfeasance and despair at its Citizens who are Native, Black, Brown, Hispanic, and Latina/o, attempting to bury and ignore the long centuries of cruelty that have written the story of this unbearably unjust Present.
It has allowed an attack on the inalienable right to vote, the Most Vitally Important Weapon of the Populace, to the further destruction of this Democracy already in shambles.
It has allowed the rape, trafficking, abuse, and discrimination of one half of its citizens, permitted these individuals to be paid less (for the same work), and personally waged a war upon their bodies.
It has allowed its Leaders to become corrupted by money and power, not indebted to the People of this Nation or to those individuals in most desperate need of fair representation, but to the already wealthy and powerful.
It has permitted its Leaders to become wealthy and powerful themselves, inundating the supposedly-blind-and-just Congress with riches, separating the Representatives from the poor Citizens they presume to give voice to, further creating classes of Political Elite and Poor.
It has levied higher taxes upon the Poor than the Rich, and set into place an inequitable system favoring those with the most and punishing those with the least.
It has enabled its Citizens to stay sick, broken-bodied, and injured, dying younger than any other rich country on Earth, and exploited by a corrupt, for-profit health care industry.
It has allowed its Work Force to go underpaid, abused, and mistreated.
It has barred its Citizens from working their way up in social class while continuing to spread the myth of social mobility, a ploy to hold the Citizens down with ignorance.
It has permitted the pockets of the Wealthy to grow heavier and heavier, while allowing the Poor to suffer.
In every stage of these Oppressions We have Asked for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Government and Political System whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant and Tyrannical System, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
We have warned them from time to time of the inevitable Revolution if they would continue to levy such atrocities against the People of the United States; We have reminded them of the Power the People wield over their own System, and asked for equal and fair Representation and Legislation; We have appealed to their senses of Justice and Empathy, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred, through which all The Creatures of Earth are United, to disavow, condemn, and fight against these usurpations— but to no avail.
They have been deaf to the Voice of Justice, blind to the Call of Freedom, and unflinching to our Demand for Democracy.
We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity you who denounce our Revolution, and hold you, as we hold all of humankind, Enemies in War, and Friends in Peace.
Therefore, we, the People of the United States of America, in General Public, Assembled, appealing to the noble institutions of Logic, Reason, and Justice for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these States, solemnly publish and declare: We are, and of Right, in Open Revolt.
We the People are beholden to Justice, beholden to Truth, beholden to Freedom, and, as such provisions are denied by the current State, we swear ourselves to Change and Revolution, so these Noble Pillars of A Liberated Humanity may become reality, for too long have we suffered in despair, too long have we withered in anguish, too long have we died in poverty, to continue on in this deadly, suffering reality.
So, in the name of all that is True and Right, we bind ourselves to challenge and to destroy this Oligarchy, to sweep into Office a new Set of Lawmakers on the 8th of November, Year 2016, and to upheave the current broken and corrupt System, transforming it from a Tool of the Wealthy into a Servant of the People.
And, for the support of this Declaration, we, with a firm reliance on the protection of that which is Undeniably Just and Fair, mutually pledge, by each other, by our Lives, by our Fortunes, and by our sacred Honor, to Revolution.
