This lady is Dr Mehreen Faruqi, who has represented the NSW Greens Party in that State’s Legislative Council since 2013. As of yesterday, she is also apparently a terrorism suspect — at least, if you ask the TSA. Dr Faruqi was on a self-funded, fact-finding trip to the USA on the topic of drug law reforms.
Upon arrival to LAX, this is what happened:
This is absurd — it’s an outrage! Upon arrival at a major international airport, showing a valid Australian passport, a member of an Australian Parliament was arbitrarily detained, harassed and accused of committing fraud. If our spineless fool of a Prime Minister had any guts at all, he and the Governor-General would summon Ambassador Berry to Yarralumla to explain his nation’s actions! Instead, the Prime Minister looks like ignoring the incident entirely — mustn’t upset Big Brother, after all.
Not that Big Brother has done anything for Australia in the last 70 years, and what was done then has been more than repaid by the Australian blood shed in pursuit of American interests in Korea, in Vietnam, in Iraq and in other nations since.
America’s heavy-handed, callous and prejudiced treatment of its so-called “allies” is why America’s rapidly running out of allies. Yet no Presidential candidate, not even Sanders, is willing to actually accord other sovereign nations the rights and prerogatives it so routinely demands for itself.
It’s time that Australia explored other options for diplomacy, besides a spineless, subservient, one-way “alliance” that has led to our government being regarded as little more than an annex of Washington.
