There will probably be some that disagree but I have a thick skin.
With the recent release of the Oscar nominations, the Black actors community is up in arms because no Black actors were nominated. Since none were nominated, the Academy is racists.
Hmmmm. Seem there have been quite a few Black actors nominated in the past. en.wikipedia.org/…
Many Black actors are planning to boycott the ceremony and are pressuring Chris Rock to withdraw as the host.
Why?
Yes, the Academy isn’t as racially diverse as it could be. They are working on it.
To protest that no Blacks were nominated...well, as I understand it, the studios advertise within the community their actors and movies they feel are Oscar-worthy. To complain because there were no Blacks nominated seems a bit odd to me. You hear equality, fair treatment, etc bandied about. But, when those in the Academy don’t recognize that a performance meets the standards for a nomination, we are now hearing protests that it’s too “white”. Apparently the other members of the Academy didn’t feel that there were any performances that met the standard.
So...there should be someone nominated just because of the color of their skin? You can’t have it both ways. Either the nominations are on the merit of the performance or you want people of color nominated because of their skin color. Which is it? Performance or skin color?
