Here We Go! It’s been too long since we FCKers got together, and even longer since we rode a train together. We can fix this!
The Four Corners Kos Crew is having another EPIC train ride meet-up! Join us on Saturday, February 20th, 2016!
Everyone in Koslandia knows how fantastic the first train meet-up was, so here’s your chance to join in on the fun. There are some changes to how The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is handling “Local’s Day” tickets, so pay attention to the details, and read the D&SNGRR page that is linked below.
I’ll begin the announcement with a recap of our previous EPIC train ride meet-up. Here’s the announcement for the first train meet-up. There are some pretty pics & good info here:

And then here’s the recap “story” of the EPIC meet-up, it is very photo heavy:

The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad has changed the way they handle “Local’s Day” tickets. In an effort to keep ‘local’s day pricing’ to ...locals only, they are requesting identification. In order to purchase tickets at the whopping 55% discount, the purchaser must show ID from the following Counties:
CO: Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Mineral, Montezuma, Ouray, San Juan
UT: San Juan
AZ: Apache (Teec Nos Pos)
NM: San Juan
But we’re crafty FCKers, and have a work-around for all the multitudes of out-of-towners who want to join us! Here’s the plan: If you live in one of the above Counties, simply call the Train folks & buy your tickets. 970-247-2733 and use code “LCLAPP16”. If you are not a local in one of those Counties but still want to join us at the local’s pricing, I will purchase your ticket using my ID & you may reimburse me. I asked 6 different ways, and this is okay with the train people.
Another way they have changed the Local’s Day deal is that...the discounted fares are for “standard class” tickets only. That means no reduced rate for the Presidential Class Cinco Animas car. You may still buy tickets for that car, but it’ll cost you ~$105/ticket. Ouch. Worth it-but still...ouch. With the discount for a standard class car, pricing is thus: After-discount fares: Adult $27.90* Child $16.20*
*Subject to 7% Historic Preservation Fee
That means we’ll all be spread out, possibly in different cars—but not to fret, as I have been assured we will be able to move about the train & visit each other, trade seats, all that stuff. Also, and this is important: all tickets sold will be for enclosed cars. One does not want to ride outdoors, on a train, in February, in Durango. MUCH too cold for that. But you will be able to go to the ‘open car’ for picture taking & frost bite getting…
