The NY Times Magazine has great story about the lawyer who discovered and doggedly pursued the case of PFOA (think Teflon) pollution and cover-up of colossal proportions perpetrated by DuPont. So many of the comments point to the need for tougher regulation, but none talk about changing the corporation from within. What if corporate boards of directors were mandated to include environmental scientists and community representatives? In Germany and the Scandinavian countries, board seats of large corporations are reserved for elected representatives of the workers, a practice I would also advocate. Here in the U.S., corporations are created by law and so could be changed by law.
