These are some of the Republican senators and candidates vying for election on November 8 and what they have to say about Donald Trump and his pussy-grabbing ways:
John McCain: "There are no excuses for Donald Trump’s offensive and demeaning comments. No woman should ever be victimized by this kind of inappropriate behavior. He alone bears the burden of his conduct and alone should suffer the consequences.”
Note McCain doesn't say anything about what those consequences are, or about withdrawing his support. How mavericky.
Marco Rubio: "Donald's comments were vulgar, egregious & impossible to justify. No one should ever talk about any woman in those terms, even in private."
"Even in private"? What the fuck does that mean? Anyway, notice what's missing? Yeah, he's still voting Trump.
Send a powerful message. Chip in $3 to each of these candidates to get these Republicans out of office.
Are you a member of MoveOn? No matter where you live, help defeat Donald Trump and take back the Senate by texting MoveOn members in swing states to knock on doors where they live.
Rob Portman: "The comments were offensive and wrong and he was right to apologize."
He didn't apologize. Are you still voting for him, Portman?
Kelly Ayotte: “His comments are totally inappropriate and offensive.”
That's illuminating. And….?
Richard Burr: "The comments are inappropriate and completely unacceptable."
Yeah, that much is clear. What are you going to do about it?
Pat Toomey: "Donald Trump's comments were outrageous and unacceptable."
Right. We already knew that. So?
Joe Heck: "I condemn in the strongest possible terms Donald Trump's comments. The language he used was disgraceful and there are no circumstances where such behavior is acceptable."
This is getting kind of repetitive, huh?
Roy Blunt: "Donald Trump's statements were disrespectful and inappropriate, and he was right to apologize."
Yeah, we've been there already. It wasn't an apology, and what the fuck are you going to do about it?
Ron Johnson: "Donald Trump’s recent comments are completely indefensible and I refuse to even attempt to try and do so."
But you're voting for him, right?
And Chuck Grassley? The guy who is holding open a Supreme Court nomination for Trump? He hasn't even bothered to comment thus far.
All of these Republicans failing in their duty—and fulfilling their oaths—as elected officials and withdrawing their support from Trump. But they're doing more. They're all focusing on Trump's words. The problem is his actions. He boasted of sexually assaulting women because he can, because he's a star. It's not about the naughty words. It's about the assault. And they're going to have to rethink that.
