What’s this? Sean Hannity disobeying Donald Trump? Trump has said that Hannity could confirm Trump’s opposition to the Iraq War before the war began, thereby magically making Trump not a liar. Only Hannity didn’t seem so happy to be asked about that by Sen. Claire McCaskill Sunday night:
“[Trump] said [Capt. Humayun Khan] wouldn’t have died because he wouldn’t have sent him to war,” Hannity said.
“And you were the only one that knew that secret,” McCaskill replied. “Right?”
Hannity became flustered.
“No, I don’t ― that was the other, that was the issue of whether or not he should go,” he said.
“I think he said you were the only one that knew the secret that he was opposed to the war,” pressed McCaskill.
“No, we actually had midnight conversations about whether or not Iraq was a thing,” he said, not actually answering the question.
And then Hannity changed the subject.
Hmm. Does Hannity’s discomfort suggest an entirely new Trump lie on Iraq? (Totally. We just expected Hannity to back Trump up on that lie—that’s the only surprise here.) Also, why does it take a senator to press Hannity on this issue? It seems like something some ace political reporter should have done after Trump urged people to talk to Hannity about this.
