Talked to a friend of mine, Trump supporter, likes Trump, need someone whom will shake things up. Talked about closed Walmarts, tanks, being used for Military purposes, seemed to believe what Trump says. Told him closed Walmart story is a conspiracy theory and isn’t true. Almost every word out of Trump’s mouth is a lie. There is no way he would be able to handle what a President is responsible for.
He went with me to the Eye Clinic, to help me with my wheel chair, which I keep in the trunk. While there, he saw the local paper and news about Trump Video released Friday. He couldn’t believe it and agreed it was really bad to say something like that.
He has had a rough childhood being bounced from foster home, to foster home, but it has always appeared he had respect for women, so thought this was being very crude that Trump would say that, but sort of excusing it as the way a lot of men talk.
Here is a little back ground about my friend.
He had been helping me with my paper route and since we were in the car so much, I found out a lot about him. He believes a lot of what he hears and sees on TV.
He watched a movie, where they pour a clear liquid on a cloth, put it over the woman’s nose and mouth and she passes out. He thought it was rubbing alcohol, but I explained to him it wasn’t rubbing alcohol, it was an anesthetic, such as ether, used in anesthesia, to put you to sleep.
He believes a lot of what he reads, or hears, mainly from the right and all their conspiracy theories, he is a big believer in conspiracy theories, which brings me to the run up, to the big Jade Helm conspiracy, where President Obama is having the military train at abandoned Walmarts and they are going to attack the south western states, impose Marshall Law, even using some of the Walmarts, for detention centers.
When he was with me, he would tell me different things and I would try to explain to him it wasn’t true, but it was not easy, to convince him. He thought when a movie was based on a true story, that everything in it was true, especially the black and white movie parts.
I told him even though it was based on a true story, not everything in the movie actually happened, because they had to juice it up, so people would want to watch it. As far as the black and white footage, it could be clips from the actual event, but it more than likely was them filming it in black and white, which they can do.
Now with him talking about the abandoned Walmarts and what the government was using them for, I told him it was a conspiracy theory. He believes a lot of the conspiracy theories he reads about on the internet and other places he hears about them.
He believes the stories, from the right and Trump, about all the scandal, with the Clinton Foundation and about the “Pay for Play”, involving donations. I told him the Clinton Foundation was a good foundation and not like Trump’s Foundation, which he has never donated to, since 2008, but used the money of others, to buy things, for himself, like 2 life size portraits of himself and paying $1,000 for a Tim Tebo helmet. His foundation does very little good, it only benefits Trump.
I told him how bad Trump treats his employees, even filing bankruptcy 4 times cheating businesses out of the money he owed them and even bankrupting small businesses, whom depended on his payment, for services they did. He is not a person you would want as President.
He brought up the e-mail thing, with Hillary and her scandals which the right is spreading. I told him about knowing Hillary, since she was First Lady and Bill Clinton was President and all the good things she has done as First Lady and even when she was Secretary of State.
I told him he can’t believe all the stories he hears about “lying Hillary,” “Crooked Hillary”, etc., which the right are talking about. Practically every word out of Trump’s mouth is a lie.
I have known my friend since January 2008 and know he believes a lot about what he hears, people repeating, mostly from Trump and the right, conspiracy theories and believing things he hears about Hillary and the Clinton Foundation. I know it is really difficult to get him to understand all of it is just conspiracy theories and to avoid watching Faux News.
About the Walmart thing, I hadn’t heard of it, so I looked into it, most of the stuff he was talking about was because of the conspiracy theorists and the Jade Helm conspiracy. The theorists said President Obama was training the military, at closed down Walmart’s, to take over the south western states and impose martial law!
The information below I found on the Consumerist website, Forbes and Reuters, links below, where they investigate things like this.
The closing of five stores at once for the same ostensible reason was so unusual that conspiracy theories circulated: some were government-related and some were related to Walmart union-busting. Skeptics pointed out that Walmart hadn’t even filed for work permits for the theoretical plumbing work, and that it was extremely unlikely that five stores in different parts of the country had the same urgent plumbing problem at the same time, requiring the stores to close with only a few hours’ notice.
The store closures affected 2,200 people, some of whom followed their customers to other nearby Walmarts during the shutdown. Now the company is inviting these workers to return to the stores when they reopen, which a spokesman said will happen in late October or early November. The work isn’t done yet: “While we continue to conduct plumbing repairs and store upgrades, our goal is to begin serving customers by late October or early November,” a Walmart spokesperson told Reuters.
The United Food and Commercial Workers Union is behind OUR Walmart, an organization that isn’t a union but has been helping Walmart’s “associates” to organize and ask for better treatment and pay. The union filed a complaint to the National Labor Relations Board about the closings, noting that one of the stores that closed, in Pico Rivera, California, was a center of OUR Walmart organizing. They speculate that the store was closed as a pretense to shut down workers’ organizing efforts, and other stores that had no union-ish activity were also closed, as “cover.”
Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT.N) said it would reopen in late October to early November five U.S. stores whose closure had prompted a union to file a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board, claiming the retailer was retaliating against workers for organizing.
From Forbes: Who killed Walmart’s business model?
Top on the list is Amazon. Its remote location warehouses, expedient delivery and razor-thin margins have given Amazon a price advantage over Wal-Mart.Not to mention that the proliferation of smartphone and tablets turned Wal-Mart into a storefront for Amazon.
With their purchase of Jet.com, it appears they are going to try to compete with Amazon and their remote location warehouses. By doing that, they won’t need as many stores, which will cut down on their labor cost and maybe even break the Union Organizing, which was going on.
Some of the stores, which were closed are reopening and they will hire their old employees back, but all of them coming back will have to fill out a new application, even if they had been trying to organize the union. I am guessing that is how they could weed out the ones, whom were trying to organize a union.
I also read, where they are going to a smaller business model, for Hometown stores. I am guessing similar to Shopko, whom put stores in smaller towns, but they are smaller stores, with limited merchandise and are called Hometown Shopko.
I am also thinking, maybe the huge Walmarts, which were closed, for so-called plumbing repairs, were actually being remodeled into huge warehouses, where they will stock the merchandise, like Amazon. It probably took this long to get them fitted with the equipment needed to turn them into a warehouse, like Amazon has, where they fulfill orders made over the internet, then ship them out.
Part of the rest of the store maybe made into a smaller Hometown Walmart, with less merchandise. Other abandoned stores maybe re-located in smaller towns or other locations as a Hometown Walmart. It will be interesting to see just what those stores are going to look like, once they open.
