For a long time it seemed like Chris Christie might get away from the George Washington Bridge traffic jam with only his political future and reputation damaged, but legal consequences are suddenly on the table, too.
A New Jersey judge has found probable cause to investigate a citizen complaint that Christie committed official misconduct. The Bergen County prosecutor’s office will make the final decision of whether to charge Christie—and while the prosecutor’s office had so far declined to move on Christie, this adds to the pressure to at least consider it, particularly given the stream of revelations in the trials of Christie’s underlings.
No word yet on whether this will distract Christie from his work fetching McDonald’s for Donald Trump.
