* Provided Trump can prove he flew a commercial jet only once in the 1980s, that is.
As reported here nypost.com/...
And blogged here talkingpointsmemo.com/… ,
A Mr. Anthony Gilberthorpe, a “colorful Brit” claiming an excellent memory, claims that sometime in 1980 or 1981, he was a first-class air passenger along with Trump and a woman, and that they engaged in activity not matching Leeds’ description, and that seeing Leeds’ photograph of her younger self he recognizes that photo as the passenger he saw. The last link is ludicrously weak: he remembers a woman he saw once about 35 year ago so clearly that he can definitively say from one photograph that it’s the same woman? If Trump flew first class multiple times in that period (and surely he did), then even taking Mr. Gilberthorpe’s story at face value, it’s entirely possible that what he describes and what Ms. Leeds describes happened, on different flights, with different women.
I mean, I’ve got a pretty good memory and am about Mr. Gilberthorpe’s age, and I can’t even remember whether I HAD a seatmate on the flights I took around then, much less recognize a cabinmate from one photograph. And don’t tell me that was a particularly memorable encounter seared in his memory. I was on a flight about that long ago where a fellow passenger, seated right near me, suffered a heart attack and we had to make an emergency landing. I remember the event but have zero memory of what he looked like.
Next witness.
