...like all Republicans and especially the ones elected in 2010. That’s when ALEC helped scare the crap out of old white people by falsely claiming that President Blackenstein was going to give all of their hard earned Social Security and Medicare to THOSE people.
Inspired by First Amendment’s diary, www.dailykos.com/…, which I couldn’t resist sharing with my Trumpian relatives on FB, I began to rant thusly…
Think about it, the party that was dead set against Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, ran in 2010 on saving those programs from the party that created them over the Republican’s kicking, screaming objections. When Reagan was still a corporate mouthpiece and not even Governor of California yet, he predicted the end of American Democracy as we knew it because of getting our retired folks healthcare.
ALEC owns the Republican Party and they have three goals to achieve power while only representing the top 1% - Suppress the vote so the 99% can't kick them out - gerrymander their districts so the 99% can't kick them out - pass tax cuts and cut regulations for the rich.
Listen to Ayn Rand fanboy and Majority Leader of The House of Representatives, Paul Ryan, who has proposed, in his budget, to make Medicare into a voucher program, where they send an 85-year-old a check for $ 2,000 and say good luck, and who wants to raise your retirement age and let Wall Street manage your Social Security fund.
This is what you'll get with Trump or any other Republican; 36 years of cutting taxes and regulations is what got us all in this mess, and what do Republicans always propose to solve all of our problems? Cutting taxes and regulations.
Wise up people. Trump, McCrory, Scott, they all have the same agenda - screwing you over and lying about it. How do you think we got crumbling infrastructure, failing schools, offshore tax shelters and "leaders" who have to beg for money from the rich to survive in their jobs?
The Democrats are light years better for us all, as proven statistically since The Gilded Age, even though they fall well short of where we want them to be on many issues. We have the political system we deserve, commensurate with our ignorance of American history, macroeconomics and the real machinations of our government.
Want proof? Read American history - we were the most prosperous and had a middle class that was the envy of the world, when we had high taxes and strong regulations to protect the 99% from the avaricious 1%. We need that protection more than ever, before it's all gone.
I doubt I made a dent but feel much better. :)
