Utah Republican Jason Chaffetz has just managed to put his loyalty to Donald Trump before his loyalty to his teenage daughter. When the tape of Trump bragging about sexual assault came to light, Chaffetz took a stand on principle and unendorsed Trump:
“I’m out," Chaffetz told Utah’s Fox 13 News in response to Trump's comments. "I can no longer in good conscience endorse this person for president. It is some of the most abhorrent and offensive comments that you can possibly imagine."
He added: "My wife and I, we have a 15-year-old daughter, and if I can’t look her in the eye and tell her these things, I can’t endorse this person."
But now, Chaffetz seems to have found a higher principle:
Sorry, Jason. You can’t get credit for refusing to “defend or endorse” the guy if you’re publicly saying you’re voting for him. It doesn’t work that way. As House Oversight Committee chair, Chaffetz is already threatening to swamp Hillary Clinton in investigations after she’s elected president.
Help take back the House from horrible people like Jason Chaffetz by giving $1 to each candidate on the Daily Kos House slate.
