as offered at PRRI in a piece titled The 2016 Religion Vote. You can go there to read, or to save you time, I will share the key information from a series of tweets from Robert Jones of PRRI.
FWIW, while not in a tweet, the split between men and women among White Evangelicals shows 71% of White Evangelical Men backing Trump but only 60% of White Evangelical Women
I suspect that a number of White Evangelical Men are going to be surprised if they ever find out that their wives voted differently than they did.
Also worth noting is the following:
Unlike white evangelical Protestants who strongly support Trump, nonwhite evangelical Protestant voters—a category that includes black, Hispanic, and Asian-Pacific Islander Protestants—are backing Clinton over Trump by a nearly equally wide margin (67% vs. 24%).
Clearly, White versus non-White “trumps” the question of being evangelical.
Also from the beginning of the article:
at this stage of the campaign, Trump is underperforming among white mainline Protestants and white Catholics compared to Romney in 2012.
That is, on the breakout of those who are actually voting. I would note that there are probably going to be more White Evangelicals voting this time than in 2012, in part because for many a Mormon was not an acceptable choice.
