So, I do not normally read Bloomberg but I got sent a link to an interesting article that shows Trump’s efforts, or lack thereof, to create a Get Out the Vote campaign. There was one line that particularly jumped out at me, and I want to deal with it first, then the rest of the article later.
www.bloomberg.com/…
Instead of expanding the electorate, Bannon and his team are trying to shrink it. “We have three major voter suppression operations under way,” says a senior official. They’re aimed at three groups Clinton needs to win overwhelmingly: idealistic white liberals, young women, and African Americans
Yeah. it’s that blatant. Oh, it’s not what we fear with voter suppression (that is things like intimidating voters that may not vote your way at the polling place.. Trump prefers to outsource that to keep his orange hands "clean". But instead, they take things out of context to try to keep people aimed at Clinton from going out and vote.
As usual, the Orange Goblin’s hypocrisy knows no bounds (his “Grab them by the..” in 1995? Not germaine. An out of context “super predator” comment from Clinton in 1996? PERFECT)
There’s a lot to like from a Clinton aspect in this article, in that you get a feeling of how amateurish and scattershot the Trump campaign is (including this bon mot)
The animation will be delivered to certain African American voters through Facebook “dark posts”—nonpublic posts whose viewership the campaign controls so that, as Parscale puts it, “only the people we want to see it, see it.” The aim is to depress Clinton’s vote total. “We know because we’ve modeled this,” says the official. “It will dramatically affect her ability to turn these people out.”
That’s right folks, Dank Memes will save the day for Donald Trump. And only the people they “WANT to see it” will see it. Someone needs to explain Facebook and Internet to these folks. Actually, please don’t. I don’t want their heads exploding to be on my conscience.
See, all the negative, brutal bullshit they’re willing to do in public?
Now imagine what’s happening behind the scenes as they attempt “plausible deniability”
