Alex Isenstadt reports that the Republican National Committee has halted its “Victory” operations set up to to elect Donald Trump. At least temporarily:
In an email from the RNC to a victory program mail vendor, with the subject line “Hold on all projects,” the committee asked the vendor to “put a hold” on mail production.
“Please put a hold/stop on all mail projects right now. If something is in production or print it needs to stop. Will update you when to proceed,” Lauren Toomey, a staffer in the RNC’s political department, wrote in an email that was obtained by POLITICO.
Toomey did not respond to the reporter’s requests for elaboration.
Suddenly, Republicans, despite all they ignored during the months of evidence from Trump’s campaign—the racism, the misogyny, the incitements to violence, the never-ending deluge of lies—are pretending they didn’t realize what kind of fellow they had nominated to be president.
And now, halted operations or not, they’re stuck with a guy who bragged about his sexual assaults, not just locker room bellowing about the number of women he’s slept with, but—it should never be forgotten—unpunished criminal behavior.
Too late to get off the bandwagon now, RNC. You own this confessed sexual predator.
