I’m headed for a swing state to spend the last 4 days of the election knocking on doors of Democratic voters who haven’t voted yet. I’m trying to imagine what is going on in their brains.
What I’ve decided is that this meat grinder of an election has made some of them forget the basic differences between a Democrat and a Republican. It’s sort’ve of a re-wake up call. I don’t know about you, but I’ve met a lot of young Democrats who say “What’s the difference?” Makes me want to scream!
In situations where the person isn’t home, I’m going to put it in a small envelope with their name on it so it feels personal. In a lot of cases there will be a Republican family member who answers the door, so I think that will help the message get delivered to the actual voter.
My idea is that a personal message like this is more likely to get through.
BTW, I googled “Why I am a Democrat” last night and was pretty disappointed when I saw what came up.
