Tonight many of my American brothers and sisters, all over our great nation, are gathering in peaceful protest against the denial of the will of the people in choosing our next President of the United States of America.
They will be following in the footsteps of giants of history such as Gandhi and King and their followers. Let there be no mistake, their purpose and actions are no less vital or courageous as those great leaders. These people are quite possibly risking their personal freedom and safety to stand up in the face of both power and the threat of the same laws and traditions that have kept our nation from fully accepting the wonder of democracy since it’s inception.
Now, let us all be as brave in resisting even our own beloved President Obama for not using that same power of peaceful resistance by meeting with and talking to Trump. It is quite difficult for me to say that the man I volunteer work to elect twice, has not done the only decent thing an American can do in the face of such a threat to our quite bare threads of democracy. That is to lie down and be be silent. Giving not support or moving in the face of a gathering power.
There is no greater power than peaceful resistance, there is no excuse for all our Democratic Party leaders to not use that power in confronting those who dare to question our rights as full citizens regardless of sex, race or religion. Trump and his guiltless supporters are a threat to our hard-fought rights, and the future of our nation. All of us need to stand united in resistance to this clear and imminent threat.
