In a column published today in The Guardian, Democrats once represented the working class. Not any more, Robert Reich argues that this election was a working-class rebellion. Really?
Reich consistently uses "working class" to mean "white working class." He seems unaware that there are members of the working class who are not white. How can this election have been a working class revolt when most non-white workers voted for HRC? And when people making under $50K a year, across all races, voted for HRC.
No, this was election was about hate and race. It was about the white middle class trying to deny equal rights to people of color, immigrants, and the LGBTQ community. And it was about the white middle class trying to deny things like health care and a living wage to the working classes.
Fuck you, Robert Reich.
