What do you call it when it is the written expressed purpose of a group?
For the former is it murder? For the latter, conspiracy to commit murder?
Or merely manslaughter? Though I’ve never heard of conspiracy to commit manslaughter.
And really this is not manslaughter, there is intent and planning. . .
Being “gracious” in their presidential win, that they are, the “passionate” (KKK/Neo-nazis/white supremacists) supporters of Donald Trump are doing just that:
The neo-Nazi website The Daily Stormer published a list of more than 50 Twitter users who had expressed fear about the outcome of the 2016 election, urging its readers to “punish” them with a barrage of tweets that would drive them to suicide.
“You can troll these people and definitely get some of them to kill themselves,” wrote the Daily Stormer’s publisher, Andrew Anglin. — USAToday
As we saw with Brexit, white supremacists see this victory as a repudiation of multiculturalism. They are emboldened because they think that a large percentage of America is with them, despite the win being only 26.5% of the vote with more than 40% of the voting public abstaining.
Hillary Clinton got 26.6% of the vote. Larger yes, but since they won, that’s all that matters.
For me this is personal. My cousin committed suicide in 2004. I wrote about it for DailyKos here. My cousin’s widow always felt that a co-worker had taken advantage of his depression and pushed him toward suicide. Feeling that way didn’t make his suicide any less painful.
Suicide of a loved one can also lead to more suicides of friends and family as it seems to give permission.
Once a suicide occurs in a family or among friends it's like writing a permission slip for others. Four months after Greg's suicide we almost lost his son to suicide. — my diary
What these supporters of Trump are openly working for is not just the death of one person, or all 50 on this list (because there will be more), but also the possible death of those close to them. So 1 death can become 2 or 3. And those can spawn more deaths too.
While this may not fit the definition of stochastic terrorism, but it probably is a form of mass murder.
I have no answers. We obviously can’t expect our new president to address this and other acts of bullying and terrorism by his supporters, so we need to be mindful of our friends and family, especially those active on social media. If they’re getting violent messages, being bullied and pushed, if they feel over whelmed, talk to them, or get them to talk to someone, be there, listen. Don’t let them think that they are alone and must deal with this on their own. (phone number and link below)
