A 28-year-old Brooklyn artist Matthew Chavez, has come up with a way to help devastated New Yorkers deal with their emotions after the shocking election results. He is giving out post-it notes in a tunnel at Union Square subway so people can share their thoughts. It is called “subway therapy”.
Thousands of New Yorkers have taken the opportunity to grieve, to express anger or to try to give hope to anxious fellow Americans.
Some of the messages read:
"You will not divide us. Love is everything."
"It doesn't end today."
"If they go low, we go high"
"Everything will be alright."
"What do we do now?"
"We've been through worse (meaning 9/11) and the city will unite,"
"We will get through this together because love trumps hate."
Chavez has collected over 6000 post-its and is not sure what he will do with them all now. But he says his goal was to give people a way to channel their feelings and provide a sense of community and solidarity.
So, my fellow Kossacks, here is a post-it note. What would YOU write on it?
