Former Mayor, possible next Secretary of State, and forever racist Rudolph Giuliani was being interviewed on stage at the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council gathering. In the clip below you can watch Giuliani blathering away as he side-steps a serious question from a woman in the audience about what Trump and his administration were going to do about the rise in hate crimes inflamed by Trump and others rhetoric. When interrupted and pressed, the WSJ moderator piped in that Trump had told people to “stop” on 60 Minutes. Giuliani, seeing his favorite out—people protesting Trump are the same problem as the bad apples committing hate crimes.
He has no more control over them than President Obama or Hillary Clinton have over the goons and thugs that are in my city that are destroying property, that are taking over streets, and that are yelling and screaming at Donald Trump.
We can all agree that the largely peaceful protests going on in the wake of Donald Trump’s election are constitutionally protected forms of our freedoms. However, there are a few very important things to note in that small statement by Giuliani. First, the real focus for white supremacists like Giuliani and Bannon is the destruction of property being on a one to one basis as human beings. The WSJ is the perfect sympathetic audience for this comparison. The second thing to watch here is that Giuliani calls New York City “my city.” This isn’t him saying my “home city,” or “where I live.” This is Giuliani revealing that he has always been the dictator of New York City—at least in his mind—and that has not changed.
