There is a pervasive notion that has been floating through the black community in the past few years and in social media circles, that black people are all descendants of royalty. It dictates that they have all come from a royal lineage in Ancient Egypt (and not West Africa where most black people who are descendants of the people who were enslaved in the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade are from), and that they should all now take on the affectations of being a part of a patriarchal monarchy. This line of thinking is not only historically inaccurate, it is truly dangerous, as it does nothing to serve the interest of black people who are dealing with real life issues currently in the 21st century in America. It is most especially dangerous for black women, as they are the ones who are suffering under an oppressive black patriarchy’s (OBP) construct. All this type of thinking does is reinforce those oppressive ideologies.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Black males are not kings. They have no land, resources, currency, or standing army. Most can't even get a street light changed on their block. Black women are not queens. Women who are walking around saying such things, are living in a patriarchal fantasy land and need to grow up. Black women who are struggling in poverty with a median wealth of a hundred dollars (five dollars if they are single mothers) are not queens. They are ordinary human beings that need resources, support systems, and care. None of this ridiculousness serves their interest and it in fact prevents many from organizing, changing the circumstances they are in and getting informed about how. It is childlike stupidity and it’s purposely fed to black people to keep them in a childlike state.
There are a lot of hustlers who continue to push these false ideas , while ripping black people off of what little resources they have in the process. It serves their interest to keep this insanity going because as long as back people stay focused on this way of non-thinking, they will not notice how much money is being taken out of their pockets. This happens in a lot of Notep and neverlutionary circles just as much as it happens in these churches or any of these other patriarchal, male centered religious or non-religious set-ups and it keeps black women in a subordinate position while making it seem as if they hold some sort of royal role that they don’t have and never will. Patriarchal fantasy permeates black communities because black folks just seem to love fantasy land and the OBP's agenda is to maintain it. In fact, trillions have been made from black people who are encouraged to believe in patriarchal fantasy because it is well known that they love fantasy land. This is why they still think some made up male god exists that is going to descend from the clouds and save them and why they are walking around with costumes on, looking like nut jobs, instead of dealing in the reality of where they are now and the century they are currently in.
It has been allowed to flourish because this all pervasive agenda has spread so rapidly, hasn't been called into question by black people with a platform and hasn't been viewed as all that detrimental. When you do no real analysis of it, then you won't understand just how harmful it is. So the immediate and visceral response is to make it an automatic "black thing" and keep it and defend it from all enemies foreign and domestic, when it should in fact be questioned.
The fact of the matter is all black people were not kings and queens in Africa. There were very few black people who were, in comparison to the millions of black people who have existed here and in Africa. Studying and learning about the history of those that had various monarchies is important and may even boost a black person’s self esteem, when seeing that people who looked like them existed as royalty. But staying stuck in the past or deluding yourself into believing that you are descended from a royal line and that you are therefore living in a state of royal accoutrement and entitlement, while you are in fact living in the projects or in a state of poverty with an abusive black male, is not going to assist you in any way.
Neither is remaining beholden or obligated to that abusive black male (or black males in general because you have bought into this line that you have to bow to them all because they are all kings just because they are black), when he clearly isn’t anyone but a loser who is using you as a punching bag or a thought slave or a sexual object. Many of these black males are living under the delusion that follows in the doctrine of monarchical absolutism, which claims that kings derived their authority from a make believe, male god and could not therefore be held accountable for their actions by any earthly authority. So basically knocking you around a room is acceptable as a response from your “king” because he is black and has a penis and for no other reason, as he has the divine right to.
This use of the word “queen” when referring to a black woman instead of using her actual name, also patronizes back women when they are attempting to make a valid point about misogyny and sexism in order to try to shut down the conversation. It is utilized to keep them in a certain place and to tone police their speech, reminding them of their place within the royal patriarchal fantasy land set up. The use of it by many black males, is interchangeable with the use of the word bitch and ho as they are basically all words used to dehumanize the black woman, as opposed to seeing her as the human being she is, who wants or needs her concerns to be addressed. It’s a huge mind job of patriarchal thought control. It needs to be called out every time the tactic is employed and black women should insist on being called by their name instead.
This fantasy land mindset serves no purpose but to advance the OBP agenda of keeping black women beholden to black males and patriarchy, living in a dream world, not getting educated and saddled with kids, while demanding nothing for themselves but a fake crown that doesn't exist and bowing to a black male that doesn't have a thing to offer anyone but a lot of nonsense, violence, sexual irresponsibility, abuse and neglect. This is why this mentality needs to be disposed of, along with all of the other patriarchal craziness and black people need to leave fantasy land immediately. With the current climate, black women most assuredly cannot afford to remain in this childlike state, uninformed, uneducated, ill equipped, impoverished and living in a dream world that doesn’t exist. It’s time to deal in reality, start where you are and change the circumstance by getting what you need, in reality and stop letting these patriarchy pushers pimp you with their delusional nonsense. It's the only way to really empower yourself.
