Should I become a precinct captain?

Someone once called me a “back office person”. My skills are in analysis and research.

I am socially inhibited, conflict-avoidant, and shrink from the idea of ringing a stranger’s doorbell and asking about her politics. I think I can make myself do it if there’s a once-in-a-lifetime need. There is.

My discussion style is not the best for persuading normal people.

My precinct has nobody to hear out voter concerns one on one or to follow up on voter registration. Nobody has run for the position within my memory. I could get appointed just by asking.

If there’s some other position where I could do equal good then putting me there would be better all around.

Is there anybody like me here who has tried it and made it work? Please share your experience.
