Really. No rope-adope, no sarcasm. When he does a good thing, we should praise him. When he behaves like a t**t we should call him out.
As Steve Bannon put it in Vanity Fair:
"Trump is a “blunt instrument for us,” he told me earlier this summer. “I don’t know whether he really gets it or not"" We should take the same attitude here:
I'm genuinely praising Trump for this: General Petraeus was at Trump Tower and is being considered for a role in the Trump Administration.
Petraeus was a successful general in Iraq/Afghanistan, head of the CIA, had an affair with his biographer, and got in legal hot water for leaking classified material to said biographer/lover.
And Trump is considering Petraeus for a role in his administration. Yes, trump is a hypocrite and full of shit. We knew that.
Petraeus is thoughtful, capable, and talented. We need people like that right now, whatever their personal screwups. As we saw at Ohio State just today, an incident which at this point looks almost certainly like a home-grown terror attack, we are still living in a very high-threat environment.
I believe the same thing about Clinton as I do with Petraeus: I don't care about bedroom gossip. Petraeus has a problem with his wife, not with me. And like Clinton, really, really don't care how talented officials who most probably aren't Chinese spies handle secret documents.
Good job, Trump.
That's one tick mark in the good column vs 340,679 in the bad column
(No Snark): Let's Praise President-Elect Trump for this
